Constitutional amendment and public participation discussed

Members of the Governance Sector Working Group (GSWG) gathered in Vientiane to share information and views on the topics of constitutional amendment and people’s participation and engagement in the justice system at the grass-roots level. The thematic workshop took place yesterday, chaired by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Planning and Cooperation Department Director General Mr Nisith Keopanya. This was the third meeting of the GSWG this year, with the first meeting held in March and the second held in April.

Public opinions sought on constitutional amendments

Policymakers are sounding out opinions from various sectors in society and those good and reasonable opinions will be taken into account into the draft of the amended constitution. The national committee in charge of amending the constitution has made a public announcement welcoming public opinions and comment on the proposed amendments.
