Description of the position: This position is as a Consultant to undertake the work of redesigning our website within 45 days, starting from mid of February – March 2019

The Land Information Working Group (LIWG) promotes awareness and understanding of the social, economic and environmental impacts of land-related projects, by gathering and disseminating information, facilitating dialogue and carrying out studies. The LIWG consists mostly of international and local civil society organization staff and other individuals working on land issues in Lao PDR. Nearly 40 different organizations are represented in the core group. 

Task Description of the Web Design/Improvement Consultant  

1. Main Responsibility

  • A web Design and improvement consultant will undertake all work as mentioned in the scope of work below under the supervision of the International Coordinator and Communication Officer in the web designer’s main tasks will be to propose, develop and implement all elements related to website redesigning
  • Ensure that LIWG Secretariat (Communication Officer) be able to maintain all source elements in the new website
  • Carry out other relevant web-related tasks as requested (during the contract period).

2. Scope of Work

  • Redesign new website interface (theme) from to make it more accessible, attractive and easy for user to access to webpage and resources (for example, the theme like )
  • Use wordpress as CMS core functions
  • Create database from to collect and display information (for example: land and natural resource): The database form should be Lao and English
  • Create wireframes, storyboards and prototypes to propose options for implementation
  • Create custom post type for publication
  • Make website mobile friendly support (Responsive Design for ipad, iphone, andriod etc..)
  • Auto post from website to social media and to email
  • Add support for calendar events
  • Add support for gallery
  • Support Lao and English Language contents
  • Training for staff (Communication Officer) to understand all the functions in the website after redesigning and be able to manage and update content of the website

3. Supervision

  • Web design consultant will work under direct supervision of LIWG International Coordinator and close coordination with Communication Officer
  • should demonstrate their qualifications and proven experience in the graphic design and technical implementation of user interfaces in a web-based environment. Candidates should provide a portfolio containing examples of their achievements.

 4. Qualifications Education and Work Experience (Technical Skills and Expertise)

Candidates is expected to have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Expert knowledge in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and wordpress
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience of works on web development
  • understanding of the concepts of user experience, user interface design principles and conceptual design
  • Proficient in Lao and English
  • User Orientation – Ability to understand users’ needs and to customize services and products accordingly, in order to provide user-friendly and ergonomic solutions that meet user requirements.

5. Duration of the contract

The works should undertake within 45 days, expected to start mid of February 2018 and the work should complete in March 2018.

6. Application

Applications should contain an expression of interest, curriculum vitae, design portfolio stating relevant achievements and capacity and your proposal to undertake the work. Applications should also specify the rate/quotation of work during the time of the contract.
