Vientiane Times, 1 Nov 2013

Government websites hosting databases on natural resource and environmental information have been redesigned to enable easier data management, according to government officials.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s Information Centre held a seminar yesterday to review its work performance over the past year and discuss plans for the coming year.

Websites reviewed at the meeting include the natural resources and environment database – – and the land management database –

Speaking at the seminar, Centre Acting Director General, Dr Bounkeua Vongsalath, said the databases were important instruments to help guide policymakers in drawing up socio-economic development plans.

Dr Bounkeua used the event to discuss the centre’s achievements and present plans for its future, allowing participants to discuss possible improvements to the work plan.

Two Deputy Ministers of Natural Resource and Environment, Mr Sisavath Vithaxay and Dr Akhom Tounalom, also attended the seminar.
